Position Overview:

The Buyer/Planner will oversee procurement and Supply Chain activities, while meeting the Company’s growth demands.  This position will drive demand through manufacturing orders, while effectively managing cost and the availability of material through successful procurement, commodity management, and interfacing with our suppliers and contract manufacturers.  This is a hands-on, individual contributor role in a small, collaborative organization with growth potential.

Essential Duties:

  • Timely entry of necessary inventory orders to maintain production and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Enter purchase orders in the ERP system. Monitor and maintain levels of purchased components.
  • Review customer backlogs based on assigned manufacturing cells in order to gain broad view of upcoming requirements.  Coordinate with customer service and sales regarding backlogs.
  • Oversee project purchasing/buy-to-order activities, including reviewing and managing the status of purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Analyze production requirements utilizing the ERP system-driven requirements.
  • Generate manufacturing orders (MO’s) that create optimal production and material demand.
  • Oversee inventory and non-inventory procurement activities, seeking the lowest cost while retaining product quality, quantity, delivery, and services essential to the success of our manufacturing and engineering operational goals.
  • Maintain the accuracy of inventory recorded in the ERP system.
  • Participate in overseeing our external subcontractors and suppliers, including pricing, quality, service, productivity, and delivery.
  • Oversee supply chain activities. Utilize our existing supply chain and operational processes, make ongoing recommendations for enhancements, and remain current on all activities.
  • Oversee and optimize the vendor-managed inventory process.
  • Plan, execute, and participate in the reconciliation of stock cycle counts.
  • Collaborate with our Engineering team on new product introduction .procurement requirements.
  • Participate in the ongoing management and enhancement of our ERP system.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required and as business needs demand.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2+ years of progressively successful experience in procurement and supply chain processes with an industrial manufacturer. BSBA/ BSME preferred.
  • Experience entering and managing complex PO’s and BOM’s in an ERP system.
  • Experience in effectively analyzing production requirements utilizing ERP system-driven requirements.
  • Solid shop/floor experience.
  • Experience with inventory and non-Inventory procurement activities, seeking the lowest cost while retaining product quality, quantity, delivery, and services throughout business cycles and growth demands.
  • Strong ERP utilization and management skills.
  • Solid MS Office skills.
  • Experience with inventory control and stock cycle counts.
  • Self-directed, resourceful and detail-oriented with excellent analytical, planning, organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, communications, and budgeting skills.
  • Ability and willingness to use and rely on our existing processes and established guidelines in the performance of the work, and developing/enhancing processes and methods.
  • Hands-on and solutions-oriented with enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative, small team environment, interacting well with all levels of management and staff.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10%.
  • Must have a clean, valid US driver’s license.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move materials (up to 50 lbs.), and perform repetitive tasks.

Work Environment: Manufacturing environment exposed to noise, machinery, and materials used in machinery production.
